Montecarlo is a small village, situated on the hill separating the plain around Lucca from the area known as Valdinievole with the spa towns of Montecatini and Monsummano. Built in a few years between 1333 and 1335, you can visit there the medieval urban plan, the walls, the narrow streets and a fortified castle of medieval origin, but expanded by the Medici.
In the countryside over 15 farms produce a great wine, for which the DOC has been recognized, and an extra virgin olive oil, considered one of the top quality oils of Tuscany; there are also many restaurants and pizzerias and in the village are sometimes organized festivals (e.g., that of wine) and musical attractions.
The B&b is the ideal place for a holiday, which may be quiet, surrounded by nature (there are gardens, woods and fields available to the guests), rich of walks, but also very active, as all the main cities of art in Tuscany, such as Florence, Lucca and Pisa, are within short distance. Not far away are also the sea with the beaches of Versilia and the mountains, with the Garfagnana and the holiday resort of Abetone. Important spas are easily reached.
The house is recently renovated and can offer the same comfort of the most modern townhouses. The bedroom for the guests, designed and furnished in an original style, combines a modern structure with the antique furniture, that used to belong to the owners’ grandparents, and occupies the entire upper floor. The bedroom has its own shower and private bathroom, as well as a LCD HD television with satellite connection (news and movies also in English), a blue-ray and DVD player, a hairdryer and an electric fan. The wi-fi is available and completely free. The room has a view of the surrounding countryside. All the necessary furniture needed for children under 4 is available (cot, high chair, etc.).
The rich continental breakfast, prepared with local produce and much appreciated in all reviews of the &b is served, in the colder seasons, in the spacious dining room of the house and in the summer almost always outdoors at a short distance from the olive trees and vines of the surrounding countryside.
The owner, former high school teacher, always offers to the guests a large amount of maps and guides, in Italian or in English, and, if required, provides all kinds of information, including historical and artistic places to visit, itineraries (by car, on foot, by bike, ..), restaurants, pizzerias
