The old medieval quarter of Bolsena sits imposingly on a rocky outcrop 70m above ground level, high above the town, with the gorgeous panorama of Lake Bolsena stretching as far as the eye can see.

The principal cultural destinations of Orvieto, Viterbo, Civita di Bagnoregio, Tuscania, Vulci and Mt. Amiata are all within a few kilometres’ drive, as are the natural thermal springs of Viterbo, Saturnia and Bagno Vignoni.

Not to be forgotten, of course, are the delights of taking a dip in Lake Bolsena itself, whose waters are so clear it is known as “the lake you can drink”, as you will discover...

The appartment is actually built into the ancient town wall and dates back to 1100 A.D. Access is via some ancient stone steps leading up from a secluded courtyard, and the entire medieval area is a traffic-free zone, with a car-park about 100m away.

The flat is tastefully decorated to reflect the building’s age, with terracotta tiles throughout, exposed beams and medieval brickwork on view. It comprises a double bedroom with TV, a single bedroom, a bathroom with shower, a small living room with views out over the Lake and a kitchen area, a working fireplace and a double sofa-bed. There is also central heating, air-conditioning.

The three west-facing windows give a 180 degree breathtaking view...from dawn to dusk.
