A visit to the city of Avigliana, for those arriving by car, can start off from three strategic points: Piazzale Don Germena, Piazza del Popolo or Piazzale Che Guevara. All three offer ample parking and from here visitors can take a pleasant stroll into the beautiful old town centre with its artistic treasures and medieval architecture. Having visited the centre, we recommend moving on to see the lakes which are the other main attraction in Avigliana. Heading for the lakes, visitors will find the majestic Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Laghi (Blessed Virgin of the Lakes) on their right. The Natural Park Laghi di Avigliana, founded in 1980, is located at the opening of the Susa Valley at the foot of Mount Pirchiriano where the ancient abbey of the Sacra di San Michele stands. This area is characterized by the Rivoli-Avigliana morainal amphitheatre and is just over 20 kms from Turin. The sanctuary offers a wonderful view of Lake Grande which, together with Lake Piccolo, the surrounding woods and the Mareschi Swamps, make up the territory of the Laghi di Avigliana National Park. The origins of the two lakes and the Morainal amphitheatre date back to the last two prehistoric glaciations. In the heart of this natural park we find this small house with garden. Guests are offered a double bedroom with TV, terrace and private bathroom with shower. The room is well kept and nicely furnished. Breakfast is served either in the dining room or, weather permitting, in the garden.
