What to eat in Tuscany at New Year |
While awaiting the entry of the new year, instead of spending the whole day cooking for your guests on 31st December, take a trip to Tuscany for New Year and enjoy some of the many typical Tuscan meals. For meat lovers they offer hare, wild boar etc., from papardelle pasta with hare ragu, to wild boar ‘alle olive’, to deer ‘spezzatino’, to kidney. For those who prefer a vegetable based dish, this New Year’s Dinner of Tuscan tradition provides a wonderful ‘ribollita’, a soup prepared with vegetables and legumes straight from the garden, slow-cooked in the pot. You could also choose between a thistle soup and a special artichoke ‘tortino’. For fish lovers, a must-try is the Florentine style sole, prepared with spinach and Mornay sauce, or even the Florentine style cod. There really is something for everyone at the Tuscan New Year’s Eve Dinner. As far as the New Year’s dessert is concerned, you’ll have so much to choose from, amongst the choices are the dried and candied fruit based ‘ricciarelli’, ‘panforte’ gingerbread ‘panpepato’, ‘cavallucci and the ‘copata senese’. For your Tuscan New Year Break, you will find lots of tips to spend a little less and have a relaxing few days with loved ones as the New Year approaches. Those Tuscany B&B owners, who do not offer dinner on New Years Eve, will be able to best advise you of the best places to taste some local delicacies and have a glass of Tuscan wine to toast the arrival of the year 2016. |
