Montecatini Terme is located in the province of Pistoia and is the most important town of Valdinievole. It is situated at the eastern end of the Lucca plain, and has a strong vocation for tourism, given the importance of the spa. It is divided into the ancient village of Montecatini Terme and Montecatini Alto, and is connected by cable car that has the oldest original working cars in the world. Montecatini Terme has many well preserved buildings from the Art Nouveau era, and the tourist office recommends starting a visit at Piazza del Popolo in order to discover the hidden beauties of this architectural style that include the City Hall, Excelsior Cinema, and Tamerici Pavilion, all of which were built in the 1920's. The eighteenth Leopoldine Terme spa was also reworked into Art Nouveau style. The hot springs are the real treasure of Montecatini, around which many establishments were built where visitors can enjoy traditional mineral water cures, but also a wide range of spa treatments, from mud bath and massages to saunas. Montecatini is easily accessible and offers the possibility to combine the relaxation of a spa visit with the most famous places in Tuscany such as Lucca (28 km), Agliana (23 km), Pistoia (20 km), Viareggio (54 km) and Florence (50 km). The B&B is 5 km from the center of Montecatini, surrounded by green Tuscan hills, in a historic farmhouse dating back to 1670 that was completely refurbished and retains the character of a typical rural dwelling. In the back, in a large meadow, there is a swimming pool where guests can refresh themselves and enjoy cool pleasant evenings. Available to guests are five double bedrooms, all with private bath, air conditioning and antique furnishings.
