Gravina In Puglia, Bed & Breakfast VENETO

In one of the furrowed valleys of Alte Murge, an ancient rupestrian civilisation of Gravina di Puglia formed. In the tuff caves of the ravine, the inhabitants of the Roman Silvium found shelter for four centuries to escape the hordes of Barbarians during the fifth century. The term ‘gravina’ refers to the steep furrows of calcareous rock made by centuries of water erosion that is typical in this area. Thanks to this erosion, today there are numerous natural caves that were first inhabited by people of the Iron Age and then became the shelter of those fleeing the Barbarians. Even after the fifth century the caves were still lived in: up to the ninth century there is evidence of human life in these caves that then transferred to the left bank of the valley to where is now known as Gravina di Puglia. It is in this very unique setting that we find our B&B at the gates of the old town centre, easily reached from every direction (in front of Palazzo di Città). It is in a restored 1700’s building and has a reception, lift, breakfast room, restaurant, garage and spacious, comfortable bedrooms with bathroom, telephone, TV, mini bar and panoramic balconies.
