Befana 2012 in Rome is surely one of the most awaited events of the holiday season. While Christmas is an event that is celebrated primarily at home the Epiphany is traditionally spent in the squares. In all of the most important Italian squares events are organized to honor the Befana, but surely Piazza Navona provides this beautiful holiday with something magical which is difficult to find elsewhere.
Like the last 100 years, Befana 2012 will feature the famous Bernini fountain around which the most visited Holiday Market of the capital can be found. There are many stands and kiosks to explore full of traditional sweets, music, colored lights and many gifts and toys. Portrait artists are also on hand along with street performers who entertain the many visitors with their best talents and tricks. There’s also an antique merry-go-round on one end of the square that provides even more atmosphere and delights children of all ages.
The day ends with the arrival of the Befana who distributes candy and gifts to the youngest and provides enthusiasm to the adults who can enjoy the unforgettable look in the eyes of all the children on hand to enjoy this event.
If you live in Rome you’ll surely have the Befana in Piazza Navona, in your heart and if you don’t you can take advantage of the long weekend to reserve a Bed & Breakfast Rome, to experience one of the most popular and characteristic holiday events of the capital and end the holiday season on a high note!
