As we only had two days to spare in Rome we found the on/off tour buses the most useful way to visit the many differing sites within Rome. At a cost of only 21 euro for a 24hr period we were able to get on at the main train station/metro point and enjoy a two hr round trip jumping on and off when we saw places of interest along the route. We made good use of this service on both days we were there. They have a good auto sound system in five differing languages explaining each of the main sites.
meals were pretty much geared around pasta & pizza in all local restaurants & cafes, at a cost of 8-12 euro for lunch while coffee houses close to each of the main sites of interest did charge a slightly higher price for convenience & rest at times they were well worth it. But Termini train station offered the best in good cheap, fast food for those on the move.
we had a lovely experience when asked if we would like to join the family we were staying with for a hosts hubbies 56th birthday party. We had no idea what to expect, but he company was relaxed & great and the food was amazing and the evening finished with a singsong around the pool. What amazing hospitality to complete strangers visiting a new country. A night to remember and cherish. We will mst certainly spread the word & encourage others to stay at this B&B.
Rome is simply one of worlds 'must see' destinations as its a beautiful clean city, architecturaly amazing & step in history. What more is there to say :) !??? With only two days to see the main sites this time around, we would most cretainly include this destination on our list of 'weekend break' in the future to enjoy more that it has to offer.
