The zone Parioli sprang up in Rome in 1922 as the second zone of Rome. It is situated between the zone Pinciano and the zone Flaminio, just under Monte Parioli. The history of this district goes back to the Middle Ages: when it was called "Pelaiolo" and in 1877 the area was named "Imparaiolo". Differently to the zone Flaminio destined to become a middle social class area, the zone Parioli became a population of a much higher social level. The first homes were between Piazzale delle muse and the church of San Bellarmino, small villas with gardens, gave an image of a higher social level to the people who lived there. After the Second World War the district became notorious in the world of finance, cinema, theatre and also in industry. People resided in the zone. This zone is also very near to the centre of Rome and very well connected. In the sixties and seventies to have an aperitif at bar Euclide at Piazza Euclide or at bar Hungaria at piazza Ungheria was very chic. Prestigious hotels glorified Parioli. And today? At the highest point of the Park of Rimembranza in the area of the old hippodrome of Villa Gloria rises the Auditorium of Rome, whilst at the end of Villa Ada towards Via Olimpica there is the Mosque.
