Visiting the city of Trapani is a journey through various historical eras. At every corner there are monuments, churches and buildings that tell the story of the city’s history. The heart of Trapani is still represented by the port from where the Egadi Islands can be easily reached. The port of Trapani has undergone many changes, the last of which is still ongoing and involves the rebuilding and restoration of the quays. The end of the city is characterized by the Ligny Tower, today home to the Prehistoric Museum. The tower is reached by means of a narrow street, flanked on both sides by the sea and full of bathers in summer. The fishing port is also close by with its fishing boats and fishermen that keep alive the tradition and livelihood that is passed from generation to generation. In the port area, visitors can admire Villino Nai, which has only recently become open to the community and the ex-quarantine hospital which is now home to the local Italian Naval League. Out at sea, not far from here, is the Colombaia, one of the symbols of Trapani. The B&B is an elegant house with a double bedroom for guests, garden and car park. The room is furnished with antiques and has a TV, air-conditioning and a balcony. Breakfast is served by the owner in the common room. Trapani is only 1km from Erice which offers a lovely mix of art, history and scenery in its medieval town centre that is practically intact and surrounded by beautiful hills and countryside. Other nearby towns are Marsala 35 kms, Mazara del Vallo 55 kms and Castellammare del Golfo 50 kms.
