A warm, Mediterranean welcome awaits guests at Marsala. This legendary land is on the tip of Sicily at Cape Boeo, looking out onto the Egadi Islands (20 minutes by boat from beautiful Favignana) and Tunisia. This was historically one of the most important Mediterranean ports and, during the Renaissance, Marsala became famous as the site of Garibaldi’s historic ‘landing of the thousand’ on May 11th 1860. The most important monuments are San Pietro, the town theatre from the eighteenth century and the ex-convent of Itria that has been restored and now houses the municipal offices. The Island of Mozia can be found in the Marsala Lake. This is the most important Phoenician colony in Sicily with its paved bottom dry dock, forts, mosaics and archaeological museums. It is here in the natural reserve of the lake, one of western Sicily’s most enchanting spots, that we find the b&b in a recently restored, perfectly Mediterranean style house. This spacious home has a wonderful view and is surrounded by a large garden with palm trees and local plants. There are lovely shaded spots, with tile roofing where guests can relax. In winter the house has central heating and fireplace. Behind the house there is a small orchard with apricot, fig, lemon, peach trees which guests can help themselves to. Inside the house there are five twin bedrooms with TV and private bathroom with shower, Breakfast is served in the common room during the winter and in the beautiful garden in the summer. Marsala is a town with something to offer all year round. It has a range of entertainment including music and folklore, theatre and jazz, meetings and conferences, shows and exhibitions. The main events start with the rites of Easter Week and finish with VINORO (14-16 October), the international fair of dessert wines, raisin wine and sweet liqueurs.
