According to a historian from the sixteenth century (who has not been proven wrong as of yet), Linguaglossa was founded by a group of craftsmen from Genoa and Lombardy, living in Castiglione, who left the town to settle in this county where they earned a living extracting resin from the large pine trunks, around the year 1100. Then the Normans took over the Island, fought the Saraceni, gave glory to the Pope, protected the churches and monasteries and King Ruggero gave himself the title 'faithful to Christ and great protector of Christians'. Also around the year 1100, the huge pine forest grew rapidly around the first haystacks of the resin workers creating a wall like barrier. In this setting Linguaglossa was born next to the immense forest with a view of the snow covered slopes of the volcano. The home is unique and warm in its style, on two levels. On each level there is a an independent apartment made up of two double bedrooms, a bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. They are cosy and functional, fitted with all modern comforts. The B&B is about 18 kms from the Riposto harbour, the Ciclopi Riviera with its interesting nature reserve the Island of Lachea, and the towns of Acireale and Catania. It can be reached by Motorway A18, exit Fiumefreddo and by the freeway 120 in the direction of Randazzo.
