Fucecchio is a town of great historical and artistic importance. It owes its origins to two distinct settlements first recorded around the year 1000: the castle of Salamrzana, located on the high ground where today we find a third century fortress, and the village of Borgonuovo on the flat land near the River Arno. Today it is an area buzzing with cultural, entertainment and naturalistic events. Guests are accommodated in a typical Tuscan country house. This nineteenth century house has been completely restored and has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, both with en-suite with shower. The rooms are cosy and elegantly furnished with antique furniture. Breakfast is served by the owner in the living room. Fucecchio can be visited all year round as there are monthly shows, fairs and festivals in this lively town which give visitors the chance to take part in its traditions and history. Suggested excursions: Padule di Fucecchio (natural beauty that is unique in Italy), the Via Francigena and the Cerbaie (this area is an important natural reserve because it is still covered in large part by dense vegetation).
